They returned to Penn. 1759 and took over the estate of his father-in-law Michael Zimmerman. He sold this property in 1787 and returned to NC with two nephews, Peter and Abraham to their plantation. 11 children listed. These nephews had a combined total of 735 slaves. His father-in-law also died in NC. It is assumed that the land in NC owned by his father-in-law, became the plantation of his sons. Records indicate that Johann and his wife are buried on the Yount Plantaion, once owned by brother, and at the time of his death, his nephews. Johanis YOUNT was born on 23 Apr 1721 in Alsace, France. He died in 1790 in Lincoln (Catawba) Co., NC. He was buried in Yount Plantation, Lincoln [Catawba] Co., NC. Johannes (John) JUNDT (1) was born on 23 April 1721 in Neiderbronn, Alsace-Lorraine, France. He died bet 25 Jan/April 1790 in Lincoln (Catawba) Co., North Carolina. He was buried in Yount plantation, Lincoln Co. [Catawba], NC. John Yount was born in Neiderbronn, France, the youngest son of Hans George and Anna Maria Jount. He came with his parents on the Britannia, landing at Philadelphia on September 21, 1731. He spent his early years in Colebrookdale, Berks County, Pennsylvania on the land taken up by his father. Family legend has it that John and his wife Anna Elizabeth Zimmerman; Whom he had married around 1750-51, had emigrated to Lincoln County, North Carolina and were among the first settlers to homestead that land. It is told that they returned to Pennsylvania in 1759. The first birth date of which a record has been found was that of John Henry on 24 Dec 1759, recorded in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Many other records have been found of John Yount and Anna Elizabeth in Northampton County. 1762 - Anna Elizabeth and John Yount received 16 pounds, 13 shillings and four pence in legacy from her grandfather, George Philip Dodderer. He had died in 1741. His son Conrad distributed the legacies as the settlement of the estate after the death of the grandmother, Veronica in 1751. These legal matters were in keeping with the provisions of George Philip's will. Anna Elizabeth's name was written ANLISABET JUNDIN. The surname translates to Jundt with the German feminine ending of IN. She signed her mark on the official quit claim but John wrote his own signature. 1765 - John's name is found on church documents for the Jordan Lutheran church in Upper Milford Township of present day Lehigh County (formerly Northampton). 1781 - His name appears on the list of taxables in Upper Milford Township, showing his ownership of 333 acres valued at 150 pounds and assessed at ?. 1783 - A ' 'Draught of a tract of land' ' was made of land which he had bought from Michael Zimmerman. and George Zimmerman, which they had acquired by patent in 1751. 1784 - It is unclear whether John bought two separate pieces of land from Michael and George or whether the sale on 4 December 1784 was the final action on the previous parcel which was described as ' 'Situate the greatest part thereof in Upper Milford Township in the County of Northampton and the remainder in Upper Hanover Township in the County of Philadelphia, in the state of Pennsylvania.' ' (Huggins, p. 36). ' 'On December 4, 1784, John Yount bought 255 acres of land in Lehigh County, the estate of Michael Zimmerman, Jr., late of North Carolina and George Zimmerman, of Turkey Hundred, Maryland.' ' 1787 - On August 16, 1787 John Yount and wife Elizabeth sold out to John Roder. 1787 - John and Anna Elizabeth and their family had moved to North Carolina. It is known that Henry and George were also in North Carolina and probably the four younger children may have accompanied them. Susanna was 23 years of age, Anna was 18, Sally Sarah/Salome) was 16 and Andrew was 13 according to their birth dates as recorded by Mrs. Huggins |
