1867 census - Domanialamt Crivitz, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Christian and Marie. Christian, with sons Henry F.G. and Ferd, plus daughters Charlotte (husband and family) and Augusta crossed the North Atlantic in the middle of winter. It's no wonder they all got sick. Since Christ is an elderly man, it's assumed he also died when they arrived in NY. Records indicate he did arrive so he didn't die at sea yet he never made it to Wisconsin. It appears Henry traveled back to Germany on 1870. His father is on the same ship but not his mother. Assume she has died and Henry went to bring his father and remaining siblings to America. He is on the same ship as Fred. and Sophie Kopplin, Christian Howe (headed to IL), Carl and Caroline Witt ( to PA), Johann and Mina Neumann (to Chicago) Name: Heinrich Pinnow Arrival Date: 15 Jan 1870 Estimated birth year: abt 1846 Age: 24 Gender: Male Port of Departure: Hamburg, Germany Destination: Wisconsin Place of Origin: Wisconsin Ship Name: John Bertram Port of Arrival: New York Line: 46 Microfilm Serial: M237 Microfilm Roll: M237_323 List Number: 28 Port Arrival State: New York Port Arrival Country: United States ---mystery of Christian and Marie solved 2007 -- below is actually his son Henry G.F. Pinnow, children that died are a brother and sister, not son and daughter Believe he arrived in either 1863-64. At that time, immigrants were landed at Castle Garden in New York. This is probably where they came into the US. The story also says that two of his children died there. This is from Edgar Pinnow and Gerald Reigle research. He arrived in the US in 1863 according to census records. We do not know if he came by himself, with relatives or parents. We know that all his brothers and sisters also arrived in the area, but don't know when they came. We have been unable to find Christian and Marie his parents in the US. Also some records say he was born in Klein Latzkow, Brandenburg, Germany He is also listed as Godfrey Pinnow and Godfried Pinnow. A family story says he arrived in the United States after sixteen weeks at sea. The story says Ellis Island, but Ellis Island hadn't been created for this purpose yet. Believe he arrived in either 1863-64. At that time, immigrants were landed at Castle Garden in New York. This is probably where they came into the US.
