Rodney J. Schwerin, age 73, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, March 20, 2005. He was born in Brooklyn, the son of Homer and Evelyn (Hansen) Schwerin. Rodney served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. After returning home, he married the former Mary Graffin on Nov. 10, 1951, in Madison. He retired in 1982, and they moved to Hayward, where they lived for 21 years before returning to the Madison area. Rodney kept busy with woodworking, playing golf and playing card games in his past time. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; four children, John (Teresa) Schwerin, Cheryl (Michael) Labrenz, Sue (Jeff) Mroczkowski and Mari Jo (Mark) Beeler; nine grandchildren, Ashton, Jonathan, Rob, Casey, Melissa, Chad, Amanda, Sara and Laura; four great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and many extended family members. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter. A memorial service will be held at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at noon. Inurnment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
