![]() Anmerkung |
He was baptised in Amsterdam by Monsieur H. Colviena with Abraham Fabre and Susana LeVent as sponsors or witnesses. He arrived in Philadelphia probably in 1715-1717. In 1734 he obtained 150 acres in Oley Twp., Berks Co., PA . Another warrant for 200 acres in Philadelphia County is dated 23 November 1743. By 1767 he also had 300 acres of land in Exeter Twp., Berks Co., PA. Abraham lived a quiet agricultural life in the beautiful Oley Vallley a few miles from Reading, Berks Co., PA. On 179 acres in Oley Twp., he built a roomy stone homestead in 1740 which came down through descendents who married into the Bertolet family. The 1790 census for Oley Twp., shows him living there with 3 males nder 16 years of age and 2 females besides his wife. Abraham LeVan lived a quiet, agricultural life in the beautiful Oley Valley a few miles from Reading, Pennsylvania. The roomy stone homestead he built about 1740 is still standing in the midst of its fair acres(179), owned in 1927 by his descendants, Heyman E. and Katie M. (LeVan)Bertolet. A tenant works the farm for Mr. Bertolet. The pioneer lies buried with several generations of eldest sons and their wives in the private cemetery of the pioneer, a few hundred feet from the old homestead. His unrecorded will, a copy of which is in possession of his descendant, Mrs. Hannah (LeVan) DeTurk of Friedensburg, Berks County,Pennsylvania, gave original data on the children and grandchildren of the pioneer. Administration of his will dated 28 Dec 1771 was given to his eldest son, Daniel. |
