1870 - Sylvester, Green WI Christian F. Matzke was b in Doelitz, Prussia, Aug 15, 1826. He attained his majority in his native village, and attended school as he had opportunity. )n June 3, 1856, he emigrated in company with 3 brothers to the US and stopped near Watertown one year, then they came to this county, and worked out by the day until 1866, when Christian bought a farm, on which he now resides. he was followed to this county by a married brother, who worked the farm and with whom Christian made his home 3 years, then the brother bought himself a farm and moved on it, and is now living just over the line in Ill. In December 1869, Christian was married to Augusta Enstina Laufmann, who was b in Prussia, May 21, 1850. By this union there are two child -- William F. and Wilhelmine. |
