1870 - Swan City, Saline, Nebraska He came to America from Germany in the year 1856 with his family and settled near Juda, Green County, WI. In the year 1860, he moved to Nebraska. He was one of the heads of three families who located on Swan Creek. The other two heads of families were W. Gutzmer and G. G. Wahl. The Wave Michael Witt died at his home two miles east, one milet north of Western, NE on Monday monring at 7 A.M. on 11 Feb 1901 at the age of 87 years, 8 mos., 8 days. His funeral was held at the South Form German M. E. church with Rev. Steininger officiating. The Michael Witt "Fachwerkbau" near Western was entered into the National Register of Historic Places Jan. 14, 1980, says Marvin F.
