At Christmas my grandmother always made ginger snaps, molasses cookies and oatmeal cookies. She put them in a big blue roasting pan since that was all she had that was large enough to hold cookies for all the Grandchildren. The molasses cookies and oatmeal cookies were at my Grandfather's request. His father was born and raised in Germany so she also cooked tons of German dishes that her mother-in-law taught her how to cook. She made a dish called Heavenly Hash which I was told was PA Dutch and boy did I hate it. I thought it tasted like slime....kind of looked like it too! Her favorite flower was a yellow rose. According to Bert, she loved to dance when she was young. Favorite saying "For Lands Sake" --Dori Coplien Dark hair, brown eyes |
