source: The Descendants of Isaac W Zimmerman Andre Laube, one of the younger of several brothers and one sister, came to this country from Switzerland by way of New York, moving on west to Sheboygan WI, then to Holton Michigan. where he workedin the copper mines. Some of the older Laube brothers had found there way to the Brodhead area and Andrew soon joined them there. For awhile he worked in a blacksmith shop in Brodhead and lived in Brodhead. It was at this time in his life when he met Lavinia (Zimmerman) Keller. They purchased a completely wooded track of land on Hoosier Rd. and built a home for their family. ....The old house on the Laube homestead can still be seen by looking very closely on the south side of Hoosier Rd.
