Obituary notice from The Lock Haven Express dated Monday, January22, 1945:
William T. Knecht, 85, of 401 S. Fairview St., (Lockhaven, PA.) diedSunday at 1:30 P. M. at the Private Hospital where he had been a patientfor three months.
He was born at Hazelton, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William S.Knecht. In 1870 his family moved to Parvin where they operated Knecht'sMills.
He attended the Millersville Normal School and assisted in theoperation of the mill until 1912, when the family moved to this city(Lockhaven). He had been assistant cashier at the Mill Hall Bank andserved a term as county treasurer, starting in 1915.
At his death he was treasurer and on the executive committee of theMillers Mutual Fire Insurance Co. At Harrisburg, with which he had beenconnected since its establishment in 1889.
He was a member of St. Luke's Reformed Church, and belonged to anumber of Masonic bodies, including the Lafayette Lodge, the Chapter andcommandery here, the consistory at Williamsport and the Shrine at Altoona.
He is survived by two sons, Frank of Pittsburgh and John of Detroit,and a daughter, Miss Lillian Knecht, this city (Lockhaven, PA.).
In the 1880 census for Porter Twp., PA., William was listed as 20years old and a miller's apprentice.
