Frank S. Knecht
Lock Haven - Frank s. Knecht, 85, a former teacher at the Lock HavenHigh School, was pronounced dead at 3:55 p. m. Christmas Day at the lockhaven Hospital.
Mr. Knecht had had Christmas dinner at the William Boyer home inLock haven, and had returned to his home at Mill Hall R. D. 2, in theLusk Run area, when stricken.
Born at Parvin, son of William T. and Margaret Shaffer Knecht, hewas a graduate of the Lock Haven High School and of Central State NormalSchool in the class of 1908.
He began his teaching career in the vocational department of theMahaffey schools, came to Lock Haven for a period of seven years, thenwent to Pittsburgh, where he taught vocational subjects in Alleghenyschools for 21 years until retiring in 1950.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in this city,Lafayette Lodge 199, F. and A. M., the Williamsport Consistory, and theRetired Teachers Association.
During World War I, Mr. Knecht joined the locally-formed 306thAmbulance Co. for service in France.
He lived in this area since his retirement from teaching.
Surviving are his wife, Miriam Shaffer Weaver Knecht, a son andstep-son, Richard H. Knecht, Philadelphia; and E. Rodney Weaver, Ardmore;a brother, John W. Knecht, Detroit, Mich.; two grandchildren and threegreat grandchildren.
