May 1 1925 - Ijust noticed by to-days paper, Mrs. Van Rens___elaer died suddenly at her homeNo. 70 East 92nd St. N.Y.C., N.Y.. Well here is a small note you may read yourself about her. She is ' 'society' ' and I suppose when you and I die no
one shall write about us so therfore here are just a few notes offhand of our early people.
George ' 'the Hunter' ' Miller came to the U.S.A. in 1734 from Germany. Settled in Shamokin Valley, Penna. 18 miles from where I was born and lived untilI was 16 yrs. Then I attended a private Kindergarden training school in Boston, Mass.
For two yrs. Taught school five years, Hudson, NY, Northumberland, andSouth River, N.J. Married your father, June 30th 1917 . Eugene W. K. Cornwell was a graduate from Cornell Uni. M. E. He had __tued the _yd. Dept. of theArmy in the
World War and we was sent to Baltimore, 6 mo.s later we where transferred to Youngstown, O. where he was stationed over two yrs. Returning to North'd After the war he was in the forging Plant with Grandfather Cornwell, when that failed we
came to N.Y.C., 3 West 92nd St., you are not far from Mrs. Rensselderp(?) home, then moved to Long Island City, where you started in school. From there father was transferred to Elizabeth, NJ Oct 1, 1924. I guess that's plenty about your
mother and father.
George ' 'the Hunter' ' Miller later owned the most of Shamokin, The deede of land tell how he and his wife road on horseback to Philadelphia, 160 miles, for the Grant of land, As he grew older hedevided the land to his sons.
The first I know after that was Amandus Miller. His daughter Emma Miller married John Francis Epler. ((NOTE from AJ - Amandus Miller was Emma's brother, not father)) Emma Miller Epler was your Great Grandmother. One of the best educated
and read women of her day. Your Great Grandfather is living and will be 81 years old June 1st. Your Grandfather and Grandmother bought a large farm 3 miles above Northumberland on the N.B. of the Susquehanna River where they lived &
Grandfather now lives over 60 years. Amandus Miller had nine children and at his death each child received 8,000. Two ofGrandma's sisters married Doctors and her one brother William Miller of Springfield, Ill, was a wealthy banker who died
several years ago leaving 80,000 tohis widow/which was to return to his poor rel. in the East but by trickery of Mal Gillespie, we guess he knows who got it/and 80,000 to his only son Jay Miller of the rest I know little, I guess the only
reason I knew of him was because he was reputed wealthy. I forgot Aunt Rose M. Lewis, her sister, died about8 years ago. She had married a Mining Eng. She also left her estate to everyone outside the family. The only bequest I know of was
45,000 to Bucknell Uni.Lewisburg. Aunt Julia M. Barker married a minister.
