Immigration: Arrived in Philadelphia on the Ship "Friendship" on September 03,1739 from Elmer Zimmerman Peter's first wife Anna Weber / Weaver,daughter of Johann Weber and Maria Magdalena Herr, was born about 1704 in Switzerland and died in about 1739, and Peter remarried to Ann Bricker daughter of Peter Bricker and Anna Deppen of Heidelberg Township, Lancaster Co.,Pa. Peter's father Hans Zimmerman married Cathrin Spring. Baptism sponsors for Peter's grandfather Hans Zimmerman born June 0f 1633, husband of Madi Blank ( Blanck ) were Peter Berger, Lani Zaug, and Christen Roht ( Rott / Rutt) about 32 years of age could have went by the name Hans ( Roht) Rhoades who was born August 16,1601. Hans Roht ( Rhoades) was the 3rd great grandfather of Barbara Rutt who married Christian Weber Zimmerman, son of Hans Zimmerman ( who was the brother to Christian Zimmerman ) and Anna K. Weber. Anna K. Weber was the daughter of Henry Weber and Maudlin Magdalena Kendig. Henry's sister was Anna Weber, who was the first wife of Peter Zimmerman. Peter Zimmerman's second wife, Anna Bricker was the mother to Henrich ( Bernhardt ) Zimmerman. Hans, Christian and Peter Zimmerman all came out of the Russer / Reusser, Zaugg lines. These families from the middle 1500's to the middle 1600's were mainly Amish turning Mennonites. Henrich (Bernhardt) Zimmerman, most likely left the mennonite religion and became Lutheran at an early age of 17 and moved in with his sister, Elisabeth Zimmerman and her husband George Wolfart. Elisabeth and George were married February 04,1748 in Altalaha Lutheran Church, Rehrersburg, Berks then Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. George's parents who were mennonites were Johannes Wolphart and Anna Maria Agatha Zimmerman, daughter of Hans Zimmerman and Sarah ( Salome ) Ruffner. Bernhardt married Maria Eva Gebhardt in 1768 at Altalaha Lutheran Church, Rehrersburg, then Berks County, Pennsylvania. Eva's parents were Johann Georg Philip Gebhardt and Anna Margaret Massa. Eva's mother is buried at Altalaha Lutheran Cemetery in Rehrersburg. Johannes Wolphart's son, Christophel married Bernhardt's wife's sister Anna Margaret Gebhardt. |
