RESIDENT OF AVON DIES ON BIRTHDAY Joseph HAWKINS, 74, lived in that vicinity nearly all of his life. Brodhead - Joseph HAWKINS, 74, died at 4:45 o'clock Saturday afternoon, his birthday, in Avon township. Death was due to heart disease and pneumonia. Mr. HAWKINS was born in Kane county, Ill., March 19, 1858[?]. He was the son of John and Mandy HAWKINS. The family moved to the vicinity of Brodhead when he was an infant. He was married in 1880 to Teany OTT. He is survived by his widow, a son Frederick, and two daughters, Mr. Cora VISGER, Avon, and Mrs. Melvin LOVELL, Beloit. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home and 2 o'clock from the Methodist church, of which Mr. HAWKINS was a member. The Rev. J. W. Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will be in the Avon Cemetery. |
