BIOGRAPHY: Near the City of Zweibrucken in Bavaria. There is no record of his parents. Most of the chronological information contained in the reference was taken from the Keller Family Bible, written by Joseph himself. By tradition, we have the following: His mother was first the wife of a Mr. Guth, and had a son who, when grown, emigrated to America.. When widowed, she married a Mr. Keller and had two more sons. Mr. Guth was a member of the Roman Catholic Church, but dying when his children were young, they were instructed and confirmed in the Reformed church, to which the mother belonged. Joseph was eighteen years old, he would soon have to be enrolled as a soldier, his older brother, and half-brother had both immigrated to America. Therefore he decided to go to America . He sailed from Rotterdam The Netherlands on the ship William, Captain John Carter. The ship carried 180 passengers , and arrived in Philadelphia October 31 1737. Joseph's older brother emigrated to America and settled in Virginia. Joseph lived originally with his half brother Joseph was eighteen years old, he would soon have to be enrolled as a soldier in Germany, his older brother, and half-brother had both immigrated to America.
