Thickpenney's in 1905 - I think they came with her brothers SSDI 478-10-9869 CRESCO September, 1856. Former names: Vernon Springs and New Oregon. 1930 - Cresco Iowa James Howard and Helen Howard Donker wrote letters to each other often. I am unsure which of the Howard brothers was his father. It was from that correspondence that I originally knew the names of most of the Howard brothers. Cresco Howard County Democrat Born in Lincolnshire, England, June 2, 1884, the youngest son of William and Elizabeth Howard. Educated in the rural schools of Winneshiek and Howard counties, and Breckenridge Institute at Decorah, Iowa. Married Elizabeth L. Sexton in 1911. Has seven children. Was engaged in farming until the time of his marriage and then was in the clothing business for forty years. Retired in 1951. Is a member of Assumption church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Cresco country club, Wildlife, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, secretary of the Calvary cemetery association for several years, and member of the county Boy Scout board. Serving first term. |
