Dr. Donald L. Fowler, 55, of Brodhead, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008, at University Hospital, Madison. He was born on Feb. 6, 1953, in Monroe, WI, the son of Clayton and Mary Lou (Perington) Fowler. He married Vonda Baumgartner on June 14, 1975, at the United Methodist Church, Brodhead. Don attended the University of Wisconsin-Rock County, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating from Marquette Dental School, Milwaukee, in 1978. Shortly after his graduation, he started is dental practice in Orfordville. He was an avid hunter, especially grouse hunting, loved dogs, and golfing. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead, the Skyline Golf Course, Black River Falls, WI, Decatur Lake Golf Course, Brodhead, and the American, Wisconsin and Rock County Dental Associations. He also supported the youth ball program in the Brodhead/Orfordville area. Don was proud of his daughters, loved his grand-daughter, and was a special uncle.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Fowler of Brodhead; his wife, Vonda of Brodhead; two daughters, Sarah (Christopher) Meischner of Peoria, IL, and Dr. Kathryn Fowler (John Leapart) of St. Louis, MO; a brother, Randy (Brenda) Fowler of Brodhead; two sisters, Wendy (Robert) Oliver and Laurie (Tim Arn) Kettle, both of Brodhead; and a granddaughter, Gabrielle Meischner. He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton, on Oct. 25, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Brodhead, with Pastor R. Tiffany Bates officiating. Burial will be in Avon Commu-nity Cemetery, rural Brodhead. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD. A memorial fund will be established.
