Brodhead Independant news-paper issue of 4-5-1889 page 2,column 2. Death of Benjamin Brace Mr. Benjamin Brace died at his home in Avon,Wednesday eavening,March 27,1889,after a breif illness of pheumonia,aged 70 years,10 months and 14 days. Mr. Brace was born in Pennsylvania, May 13,1818.He subsequently removed to Chemung County,New York,where on the 12th of December,1838,he was married to Miss Elenor Hawkins,who survives him. Twelve children were born to them,of whom ten are living.In 1847 Mr. Brace removed with his family to Illinois,and thence,in 1856 ,he came to Wisconsin and settled on a farm near Avon,which has since been his home.The funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Avon on Friday, and were conducted by Rev. B.L. Prescott,of Brodhead. original spelling may have been Breese |
