She may have been married to a Morse prior to he marriage to Thomas (see husbands obit). If the date of birth is correct, she would have been in her later 20's when she and Thomas married. Headstone of Tyal also confirms her mother's maiden name as Hawkins. On Nov 14 1889, they appear to re-take their wedding vows in Green County, both using the surname Brace. May have to do with his civil war pension. If he thought he would precede him in death, she would need a record of the marriage to collect. It's also possible they did this for their 50th wedding anniversary but then they would not have needed a new marriage license. |
