Harlow A. Matzke, 91, died Dec. 26, 2008, at Milford. Mr. Matzke was born May 11, 1917, near Milford to Edgar and Emma (Hedges) Matzke. He attended Country School District No.48 and was a 1935 graduate of Milford High School. On January 20, 1946, he married Mildred Eberspacher at her parents' home. Mr. Matzke served on the Ruby Mount Pleasant Cemetery Board for many years; was on the Ruby District No. 7 School board and the J Precinct election board. He was a member of the Seward United Methodist Church and served as financial secretary for 11 years. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Farmers Union. Mr. Matzke was preceded in death by his sisters Reva Eberspacher and Lois Eberspacher. Survivors include his wife Mildred Matzke, Seward; daughter Holly Matzke, Seward; son Robert Matzke, Seward; sister Ellen Runty, DeWitt; nieces and nephews. Service was Dec. 30, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Seward with the Rev. Lee Johnson officiating.Casketbearers were Maynard Steckly, Bob Heyen, Dr. Byron Winter, Dr. Larry Smith, Vernon Curtis and Richard Wehrs. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Seward. Memorials may be made to the Seward United Methodist Church or Meals on Wheels. |
