Edward J. Gibbons Edward J. Gibbons, age 76 of Monroe, died on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at his home. He was born in the Monroe area on November 23, 1928, the son of Archie and Elda (Matzke) Gibbons. He was a graduate of Monroe High School. He was in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, being stationed in Germany. Ed and Donna Thomm were married in September of 1950 and she preceded him in death. Ed married Anna Mae (Hefty) Lindsay on October 12, 1968. He worked for Monroe Ready Mix for over 42 years. Ed was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church, Cecil Jones V.F.W. Post #2312, and the Zilmer Riley American Legion Post #84. He was a great sports fan, especially of the Green Bay Packers, but his greatest love was his family, enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Gibbons of Monroe; daughters, Gail Gibbons of Madison, Marla Gibbons of Monroe, Marna (William) Starr of Milwaukee; step-children, Kay (Paul) Urban, Kathy (Perry) Whitaker, Keith (Delores) Lindsay, Karen (Steve) Swenson, all of Monroe; brothers, Bernard (Ruth) Gibbons of Monroe, Tom (Mary) Gibbons of Florida; sister, Wanda (Charles) Niles of Oshkosh; sisters-in-law, Irene Gibbons, Mary Gibbons, both of Monroe, Allene Gibbons of Baraboo; 14 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Donna; brothers, Bill, Richard, Archie; sisters, Alice Raymer, and a sister, Isabel, in infancy; and by his grandchildren, Joshua Lindsay and Heather Urban. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at St. Victor Catholic Church . Celebrant will be Fr. Michael E. Klarer, with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Monroe with full military honors. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home.
