DOD U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules Index Record birthplace per Letica's 1880 census "...and the father for his second wife married a Miss Alexander, by whom he had one son [Calvin, born October 5, 1827; died August 24, 1894], now [i.e. as of the date of the article, 1901] deceased. The father died comparatively young in life, while visiting in New York State." Published in: Commemorative Biographical Record of the Counties of CK, Green, Grant, Iowa and Lafayette, Wisconsin, Containing Biographical Sketches of Prominent and Representative Citizens, and of Many of the Early Settled Families. Chicago: J. H. Beers and Co., 1901, p. 328" I believe Miss Alexander was Sarah Whiting who married the widower Johnathan Alexander. Per her age at death (1850 Fed. death index), there is no way she is old enough to be the mother of Johnathan's older children however she is old enough to be Calvin's mother and only 5 years younger than Calvin's father. She and Johnathan are the only Alexanders in Williston at the time of James Ludlow's death and Calvin is found living with Johnathan in Aug 15th 1850 in Williston. Per census records, it appears that I am only missing one son for Johnathan and no daughters. |
