The Monroe Times Margaret M. Marty BRODHEAD -- Margaret M. Marty, age 89, of Brodhead, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2006, at Woods Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead. She was born on September 25, 1916 in Footville, WI, the daughter of Louis and Martha (Harnack) Kopplin. She married Daniel Marty on March 23, 1937 in Beloit, WI. He passed away on February 24, 1975. Margaret grew up in Orfordville, WI and graduated from Orfordville High School in 1934. After her marriage, Margaret and her husband had farmed north of Monroe, Decatur Township, Rock City, IL, and rural Brodhead, moving into the city in 1971. She had been a member of the former Stateline Lutheran Church and also attended the Congregational United Church of Christ, Brodhead. Margaret was an avid gardener and loved her flowers and lawn. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (Gilbert) Riemer, Freeport, IL, Karen (Larry) Ayres, Brodhead, five grandchildren, Mark Riemer, Dan (Niki) Riemer, Kim (Brian) Smith, Marnie (Kevin) Leifker, Jayson (Mary) Ayres, and three great-grandchildren, Owen Leifker, McKenzie and McKayla Riemer. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2006, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Pastor R. Tiffany Bates officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Monroe Clinic Hospice or the Congregational United Church of Christ, Brodhead. |
