1930 - runs a resturant in Elgin Daily Herald (Arlington Heights, IL), June 12, 1998: Services for Norma J. Jordan, 88, of Elgin, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Wait-Ross, Allanson Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin. Born July 14, 1909, in Washington, Ill., she died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Sherman West Court. Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery. Ms. Jordan taught English at Lyons Township High School in La Grange for 42 years before retiring. She received her undergraduate education at North Central College in Naperville and her master's degree from Northwestern University. A member of Faith United Methodist Church, she was an active member of the choir and of the Sarah Circle. Survivors include her nephews, Bruce C. (Patt) Jordan of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, David J. (Dzidra) Knecht of Bedford, Mass., Laurance A. (Doris) Knecht of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Thomas W. (Andra) Knecht of Raleigh, N.C.; 10 greatnieces and nephews; and six great-great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the chapel. Memorials may be made to Sherman West Court (at 1950 Larkin Ave, Elgin) |
