Mrs. Chester HAWKINS, of Avon township, passed away last Monday after a lingering illness. Martha E. HARRISON was born in Pottsville, Pa., June 7, 1859, and died at her home in Avon Township on December 24th, 1923, at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 17 days. She came to Wisconsin when seven years of age and has since lived in this vicinity. In 1879 she was united in marriage to Chester HAWKINS, in Spring Grove, Wis. To this union were born five children, three sons and two daughters, one daughter died in infancy. She leaves to mourn her departure, her sorrowing husband, Chester HAWKINS, three sons, John B. of Mauston, Wis., Herbert of Brodhead, and Roy at home, one daughter, Mrs. Fred DINSE, of Pittsville, Wis., and fifteen granchildren, besides many other relatives and friends. She was a Charter member of Century Camp No. 2355, of Avon, Wis. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed by both her home and many friends and neighbors. The funeral was held from the Avon hall on Thursday at 2 o'clock. conducted by Rev. J. W. ZIMMERMAN, and was largely attended by sympathetic friends and neighbors. The songs were rendered by Rev. and Mrs. ZIMMERMAN, accompanied by Miss Naomi MARKS. The bearers were, Orrie HOPKINS, Walter SMITH, Frank CLARK, Morris HYLAND, Joe ROSS and Henry ANDERSON. |
