Goldthorpe, Charles M. MINERAL POINT - Charles M. Goldthorpe, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005. He was born on May 1, 1917, at home in the township of Mineral Point, to Charles E. and Cecelia (Schaaf) Goldthorpe. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1935. On Nov. 6, 1943, he married Bernice D. Antonson at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mineral Point. Charles and Bernice farmed together in the township of Mineral Point until 1979. Charles was a member of the Tri County Motorcycle Club and enjoyed riding and hill climbing on his Harley Davidson. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and enjoyed traveling. Charles was a supervisor for the Mineral Point town board and a member of the Congregation of St. Mary's-St. Paul's Church in Mineral Point. Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years; and his seven children, James (Laurie) Goldthorpe of Mineral Point, Dawn (Terry) Wilson of Janesville, Cathy Trotter of Barneveld, Gail (Tom) Poad of Mineral Point, Marc Goldthorpe of Sun Prairie, Leah Siordia of Madison, and Kirsten (Dave) Schneeberger of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; his 14 grandchildren, Jeanne, Jay (Lisa), Justin Goldthorpe, Shuvon (Randy) Johnson, Shannon, Shawna Wilson, Scott, Charles Trotter, Jordyn, Claire, Olivia Poad, Aaron Siordia, Aric, Cara Schneeberger; three great-grandchildren, Cortell, Marcellus and Desmond Johnson; two sisters, Elizabeth (John) Kiley and Cecelia McCarville; three sisters-in-law, Ida Antonson, Kay Antonson and Nancy Goldthorpe; and a brother-in-law, Albert Zwack. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Georgie; his sisters, Helen and Ruth; and his brothers, John and Robert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at ST. MARY'S-ST. PAUL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point, and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
