Found peace in the arms of Jesus on February 15, 2005 at the age of 84. LaVerna was born on January 24, 1921 in the Town of Lind in Waupaca County to Edmund and Dorothea ‎(Zuedtke)‎ Koplien. LaVerna married Atwood "Woody" Leiskau on August 4, 1945 and they made their home in Waukesha, moving to East Troy in 1960. They have spent this past year together at the Kiwanis Manor in East Troy. LaVerna retired from Wisconsin Precision located in Beulah Station in 1973 after 6 years. She is a member of the Community Church of Elkhorn. She is survived by her husband Atwood "Woody"; 3 daughters Marlene ‎(George)‎ Grawels of Fairchild, WI, Patricia ‎(James)‎ Sipple of Fond du Lac, WI, Janet ‎(Donald)‎ Ready of Mukwonago, WI; 3 sons Gary ‎(Carol)‎ Staffeldt of Hancock, WI, Terrance "TL" ‎(Susie)‎ Leiskau of East Troy, and Robert ‎(Barbara)‎ Leiskau, Offspring, TX. Sisters and brothers, Dolores ‎(Verl)‎ Becker of Manitowoc, WI, Doris Crist, Eugene Koplien, Joanne Gettendorf and Eunice ‎(Dick)‎ Billington all of Weyauwega, WI. She had 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Dora Koplien, brother Elywin Koplien; sisters Sarah Kent, Bernice Kent and VerLee Weiss; one grandson Michael Mengert, one great grandson Joshua Mooney, and one son-in-law John Neuy. 4 brothers-in-law Herman Leiskau, Forest Gettendorf, Bill Crist and Nick Kent. 3 sisters-in-law Margie Koplien, Wynn Koplien and Helen Krueger. Visitation and funeral services were held Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Community Church of Elkhorn, 4654 Briggs Rd., Elkhorn, WI. Pastor Robert Peiffer officiating. The family of LaVerna is deeply grateful to the entire staff at Kiwanis Manor of East Troy for all the wonderful care that they have given to our mother and dad in this past year.
