Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Mrs. Clyde W. (Daisy V.) Chambers, 100, of Holiday, Fla., formerly of Monroe, who died Friday, Nov. 7, 1980, at about 5:30 p.m. in the Tarpon Springs Convalescent Center. She had been residing in Florida with a daughter. Death resulted from old age complications following a hip fracture.
The former Daisy Vervena Benage was born in Jefferson Township, Green County, June 11, 1880, the daughter of Samuel and Phianna Holmes Benage. She attended the Twin Grove schools and Monroe High School.
Her marriage to Clyde William Chambers took place Jan. 16, 1904, in her parental home in Jefferson Township. She was an area resident until moving into Monroe in 1945. She resided in Florida for the past eight years.
Surviving are a son, Evan C. Chambers, Monroe, with whom she resided for a time before going to Florida; the daughter, Mrs. Donald (Rhea) Waufle, Holiday, Fla.; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband on May 14, 1956; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Witt, in 1938, a son and daughter in infancy, three granddaughters, one great-grandson, and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Schadt, Mrs. Minnie Carter, and Mrs. Marie Beaudin.
Mrs. Chambers was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, and of the Pythian Sisters. Funeral rites will be conducted at 1:30 pm Tuesday in the Shriner-Neushwander Funeral Home, the Rev. Larry Pinnow of Grace Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Twin Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 8 pm Monday. A memorial fund has been established for the Grace Lutheran Church building fund.
