BERTHA V. PINNOW
BRODHEAD -- Bertha V. Pinnow, age 96, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2007, at Caring Hands Elderly Care, Brodhead. She was born on October 8, 1910 in Decatur Township, Green County, the daughter of John and Martha Rosa (Marty) Schneider. She married Earl R. Pinnow on May 6, 1933 at the parsonage in Rock Grove, Illinois. After 71 years of marriage, Earl passed away on August 2, 2004.
Bertha and Earl had farmed the family farm on Town Center Road from 1934 until 1980, when they moved to Brodhead. Bertha taught Sunday school at the former Stateline Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid. She also was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brodhead, and an active 4-H leader. She loved quilting, baking, gardening, canning, and especially being with her family.
She is survived by two sons: Russel R. (Jo) Pinnow, on the family farm, rural Brodhead, Larry D. (Mary Markwardt) Pinnow, Madison, WI; a daughter, Marlene (Jim) Frehner, Palmyra, WI; nine grandchildren: Randy, Rachel, Ryan (Krista), Timothy (Amber), and David Pinnow, Krisann (David) Karls, Gregory (Tonya), Kevin (Brenda), and Joshua (Angela) Frehner; nineteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; a son, Kenneth, in infancy; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn; two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead, WI, with Pastor Sandi Olson Decker officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI., and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church on Tuesday. A memorial fund will be established.
