alt birth - 1/26/1847 - believe this to be his bap. date 28 Nov 1845 from death certificate - update - 1/26/1847 is the day that Robert Smith and George Herring were appointed guardians. This is NOT an adoption, only guardianship. 1850 - Haines, Centre, Pennsylvania - lives with Wm (b. abt 1799) and Catherine Rench , daugher Margaret is old enough to be Em's mother. She is 23 and single. Em's suname listed as McCool. There are Emanuel Rench's in the area (one county over) that are about the same age as Margaret. She may have named her son after a brother or cousin...possibly a grandfather. Rench family orginally from Maryland near Chester Cty PA. 1860: Penn, Centre, Pennsylvania with Wm. and Catherine, surname as Ranc, Margaret is no longer living with her folks....either died, married or is Catherine Margaret William Ranc 60 Catharine Ranc 60 Peter Ranc 36 Rebeca Ranc 33 - ?? wife of Peter Catharine Ranc 33 - ?? same age as Margaret - could Margaret be Catherine Margaret?
