Bernstein, Viola S. January 9, 1912 - April 6, 2006 (Published Saturday April 08, 2006) BRODHEAD? Viola S. Bernstein, 94, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Woods Crossing in Brodhead. She was born on Jan. 9, 1912, in Superior, WI, the daughter of Sydney and Wilhelmina (Geske) Brown. She graduated from Superior H.S. and Superior Teachers College. Viola married Rodger L. Bernstein on Nov. 24, 1945, in Superior. Rodger died in 1987. Viola was a teacher most of her life, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Brodhead United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Bernstein of Milwaukee; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Bernstein of Seymour, WI; 3 grandchildren: Michael Bernstein of Milwaukee, Melissa Bernstein of Corpus Christi, TX, and Christopher Wincapaw of Seymour, WI; 4 great-grandchildren: Robert and Nicole Bernstein, Sydney and Jacob Garcia; a brother, Douglas (Charlotte) Brown of Sarona, WI; 2 adopted daughters, Lois Amsler of Washington Island, and Dr. Barbara Amsler of Huntley, IL; very special friends, Dick and Sherry Cowan, and Luann Wolden and family; plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Rodger Jr.; 5 sisters; 2 brothers; and 2 nieces. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at 12:00 O'clock at BRODHEAD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, with Rev. Steve Groves officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be Tuesday at the CHURCH from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. EVERSON FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family. The family wishes to thank the staff at Woods Crossing for their extraordinary care and compassion. |
