Henry was in Company I, 46th infantry. He entered Feb 2 1865 and was mustered out Sept. 27 1865. The regiment was organized at Camp Randall, Madison WI , the last company being mustered into service. The regiment left the state on 5 March moving to Athens Alabama on the line of the Nashville and Decatur Railway. There is was engaged in patrol and guard duty. In the later part of Sept., 1865 the regiment was transfererred to Nashville TN. From there the regiment was mustered out of service, returning to Camp Randall Oct 2, 1865 and shortly thereafter was disbanded. Claims a pension - 1880 records ' 'caught a cold while at Camp Randall' ' - gimme a break SPRING GROVE RESERVES The war veterans of Spring Grove met, pursuant to call, at the residence of J.B. O'Neal, in July, 1882, and resolved that, ' 'Whereas, we, the old soldiers of the War for the Union, residents of the town of Spring Grove, in sacred memory of those years of war, and of our fallen heroes now buried in southern soil and in northern cemeteries, and in their honor; and that we, the survivors, may form a more perfect union,--Resolved, that we form ourselves into a company, by election of officers according to the rules and regulations of war. Resolved, that the company be called the 'Spring Grove Reserves,' that we elect officers annually. Resolved that the first annual meeting be held the first Saturday in June, 1883, at the residence of J.B. O'Neal. Resolved, that we heartily cooperate with the country union in agitating for and assisting in the building of a soldier's monument for the honored dead of Green county.' ' An annual meeting was held June 3, 1883, and following officers were elected: Fred Ties, captain; James H. Chapel, 1st lieutenant; J.B. O'Neal, 2d lieutenant; S.C. Williams, orderly sergeant; J.P. Kildow, 1st sergeant; Jacob Haas, 2d sergeant; A.C. Chapel, 3d sergeant; David Colby, 4th sergeant.
