Thomas came from Wales in 1635, first settling in Boston, where March 25,1638, he was admitted freeman. On April 28, 1639, he with eight others,signed a contract preparatory to the settling of "Nieuport" Newport,Rhode Island, and was one of the founders and first settlers of the town,being made June 5, 1639, one of the "proprietors" of the land, andSeptember 2, 1639, a freeman of the town.
