The Boston Gazette, February 12, 1739, in its notice of Mrs. Hazard,dated Newort, February 9, said "Mary Hazard, widow of of Mr. RobertHazard of South Kingstown and grandmother of the late deceased GeorgeHazard, esq., late deputy governor of Rhode Island, departed this life onthe 28th of January, in the one hundredth year of her age and wasdecently interred the Wednesday following. She has five hundredchildren, grand-children and great grand-children, and left behind herliving 205 of the aforesaid number. She was accounted a very usefulgentlewoman, both to the rich and the poor on mamy accounts, andparticulary amongst the sick for her skill and judgement which she didgratis."!MARRIAGE: New England Marriages: Prior to 1700 (C.
