Daniel Siler brought his family to Crawford Co., IL from Richland Co., OHin about 1852 and entered land in Section 4 of Honey Creek Township. Daniel enlisted at age 42 Aug. 20, 1861, in Co., D, 30th Regiment ofIllinois Volunteers, served as a orderly to Brigadier General Dennis, andmustered out at Vicksburg, MS August 27, 1864. He was pensioned in 1882for a disability resulting from carrying a cartridge box, equipment and160 lbs. of ammo while on a march from Cairo, IL across Kentucky. After second marriage lived in Westfield till some time after 1882, whenhe moved to Morrow Station, Washington Co., KS near one of Jane'sdaughters. |
