Melissia Jane Mattox, was born June 16, 1824, in Holmes county, Ohio, and was married to Jacob
Zimmerman February 3, 1841. They moved to Fulton county in 1845 where she resided until God called her
home on the morning of February 13, 1907, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Broughton, of Pettisville,
Ohio, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 27 days.
She was the mother of twelve children, six of whom have preceeded her to the home above. She leaves
two sons and four daughters, Mr. Riley Zimmerman of Butler, Ind., Mr. Martin Zimmerman, of Wausseon, Ohio,
Mrs. Tenny Dunn, of Butler, Ind., Mrs. Mary Porter, of Wauseon, Ohio, Mrs. Maggie Barns, of Toledo, Ohio, and
Mrs. Celia Broughton, of Pettisville, Ohio, twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and a host of friends to morn the departure of a sainted mother.
She was converted in her youth and has been a member of the Church of Christ for many years. She
died in the full faith of a crucified and risen Savior. Fold peaceful hands on peaceful breast, spread star-lit wings and gently bear to heaven's gate a burden sweet, for God has called dear Mother home.
The funeral services were conducted by the Mission minister, of Archibold, Ohio at the Mission church at Pettisville, Ohio. The body was laid to rest in the Pettisville cemetery to wait the resurrection morning.
