Mr. Hartman was born December 23, 1849 (death cert says 1848) in Pennsylvania, coming to Illinois with his parents when an infant. He was united in marriage to Miss Ida Brobst at Spring Grove Wis. Feb 19, 1880. To this union twelve children were born, of which eleven are living. The children are: Mrs. Grace O'Neill, Miss Helen Hartman, Allie Hartman, of Rockford; Nellie Hartman, Bisbee, Ariz, Mrs. Berneice Green, Spring Grove, Wis, Mable, Frank, FAnny and Dorothy Hartman of Durand, and Morton and Stanley Hartman who live at the old homestead at Laona. Funeral arrangements have not been awaiting word from distant members of the family.
