Merton M. Zimmerman
JANESVILLE -- Merton M. Zimmerman, 72, of Janesville, WI, died unexpectedly at his home Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004. Merton was born on July 4, 1932, in Monroe, WI, the son of Milo and Eunice (Mather) Zimmerman. He graduated from Brodhead High School in 1950 and married Donna Malkow on Aug. 27, 1955. During his lifetime he farmed in Juda, WI, and drove truck for F/S in Brodhead, WI, and A&H in Footville, WI. Dad worked many years as a semi-driver for several companies and also worked for JATCO, retiring from there in the late '80s. Dad had many stories to tell about how he had traveled in over 40 states. He loved to drive; it was like a hobby for him. After retiring he continued to drive semi OTR for various trucking companies. Also, he recently had managed River Place Senior Apts. He was a member of the Teamster's Local #579. Other than driving truck, Dad enjoyed spending time with his family and watching and reading westerns; his favorites were Louis Lamour books. He also enjoyed driving tractors on Steve's farm, playing cards and handheld games, and traveling, especially out West. He also loved to sit outside and take everything in. Dad was a very spiritual man; he enjoyed church functions and reading his Bible. Throughout his life he attended various churches; his heart and soul were and always will be devoted to the Lord.
