BURIAL: Brodhead Independent Newspaper (three dates) Jan. 3, 1895 ' 'Died - E.R. Allen, Esq., of Spring Grove this morning. Mr. T. F. Allen of Petersburgh, Neb. and Mrs. Percie Martin of Canton, S.Dak. came to attend father in illness, E.R. Allen.' ' Jan. 10, 1895 ' 'Died - Eliakim Roberts Allen at his home in Spring Grove on Monday, Jan. 7, 1895. Age 74 yrs. 3 mos. 22 dys. Born in the town of Cazenovia, N.Y. on Sept. 15, 1820. Family moved to Vigo Co., Ind. In 1843 on Jan. 25 married to Miss Eliza Woodling. In 1846 moved to Wisconsin and settled on farm in Spring Grove which he owned at the time of his death. lst year in Spring Grove elected chairman of the town board and held some town office ever since except 2 yrs. when Sheriff of county and 1 yr. in the army - CO. I, 46th Wis. Vols. Member of M.E. church since 30 yrs. old. 8 children - 7 survive. Funeral on Wednesday Jan. 9 at Mt. Hope by Rev. J. A. Whitney, inter in adjoinging cemetery. Card of thanks.
