In Prairie Creek, Vigo Co, IN, in the 1880 census with his parents; he was shown as ''Blady F. Hauger''; his uncle John Hauger was living with them at the time.
From ''Jacquelyn Martin'' : ''I am curious if you have a Benjamin Fredrick Hager born about 1870 in Tarre Haute, Indiana who moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 1909. My Benjamin Hager said that his father's name was Benjamin F. Hager. Family tradition is that he might have had a brother named John. Your John William died in Denver, Colorado and maybe a brother to the person I have. Does your John William have a brother named Benjamin Fredrick Hager? I have no living descendants on this Hager line. My understanding is that my Benjamin Fredrick had a falling out with his siblings so we have no knowledge of his family. He was a professional gambler and later worked
in a grocery store in Pueblo, CO. In 1920 he started working in produce and came to Arizona in 1925 with his son Benjamin Ferdinand Hager and wife Goldie.''
Curator's response: ''The name sequence of Benjamin Floyd, Benjamin Frederick, and Benjamin Ferdinand is certainly tempting. The death location lends credence, too. Dates match. History doesn't conflict, except for birth places. Your Benjamin Frederick born in Terre Haute doesn't match the West Virginia Hagers. But that report of a Terre Haute birth might be in error; that might be where he went after he split with his family, and later reported to people that he came from Terre Haute.''
Benjamin Frederick is placed in this family, based on info from Joel Hager.
