Ancestor of Pat Wood , 26 Topper Court, Lafayette, CA 94549-5118: ''I know my Hauger relations came from Pennsylvania and probably came by way of Kentucky and then to Washington Co., Indiana and eventually to Sullivan Co. and Vigo Co. in Indiana. I have a bith date for my Joseph Hauger as April 4, 1790 in PA. His wife was Jane. I'm going to go through my file because someone had written to me who had a plot map for the area in Washington Co. where a lot of the Haugers lived. The names of Joseph, William, Jacob and Solomon were noted on that plot map so I will go with the premise that they were probably from the same line. Now I need my proof.''

Year 1816. Joseph Hauger was born 1790 in Pa., and wife Jane and two small sons born in Clermont Co., Oh. Came to Washington Co., In. About the same time as John Hauger and family. Did the Joseph Hauger family miss the census taker and where were they living in 1820?

On May 23, 1822 Joseph & John Hauger appeared at the Washington Co. Court and filed a lawsuit against John McCullough for an unpaid debt and the suit continued until the year 1824 with Joseph Hauger winning the suit.

John Hauger was a witness on Joseph Hauger's will dated Feb 8, 1836. Joseph Hauger's son, Jacob b. 1816, appeared before the clerk of the Court of Common Pleas of Washington Co., In. On September 11, 1865 stating that witnesses for Joseph Hauger's will, John Hauger and Burr Bradley have been dead for at least ten years and that he was well acquainted with Joseph Hauger's handwriting and Joseph's will signature is genuine. Joseph Hauger is now deceased. ‎(Joseph Hauger's death date is August 26, 1865)‎.
