Notes
![]() Note |
From Janice Case Ancestor of Pat Wood Ashley & Barb Farnsworth From ''Kathleen Hughes'' It is noted that Susannah Hager and her husband Snell were married in Clermont Co, OH, just as Joseph and Jane were. Connection? They were not Haugers, but Hagers. Notes for Joseph Hauger: 1820 Washington County, Indiana Census - Pg #Males Females Hauger, John 216 000111* 00201** 100 *(1-male age 16-18, 1-male age 26-44 & 1-male age >44) **(2-females age 16-18, 1-female age >44) John Hauger may have been his father. Ages match. Children of Joseph Hauger and Jane Hillison are: John2 Hauger, born September 28, 1814 in Clermont, Ohio; died February 02, 1895 in Salem, Washington Co., Indiana. Jacob Hauger, born 1816. William Hauger, born September 01, 1819 in Indiana; died January 07, 1901. Joseph L. Hauger, born 1825. James Hauger, born 1829. Elizabeth Hauger, born 1832. --------- Joseph Hauger is mentioned in grandson, Newton Jerome Hauger's obituary as his grandfather coming as one of the early pioneers to Washington Co., In. settling his farm just west of Salem, In. Year 1816. Joseph Hauger was born 1790 in Pa., and wife Jane and two small sons born in Clermont Co., Oh. Came to Washington Co., In. About the same time as John Hauger and family. Did the Joseph Hauger family miss the census taker and where were they living in 1820? On May 23, 1822 Joseph & John Hauger appeared at the Washington Co. Court and filed a lawsuit against John McCullough for an unpaid debt and the suit continued until the year 1824 with Joseph Hauger winning the suit. John Hauger was a witness on Joseph Hauger's will dated Feb 8, 1836. Joseph Hauger's son, Jacob b. 1816, appeared before the clerk of the Court of Common Pleas of Washington Co., In. On September 11, 1865 stating that witnesses for Joseph Hauger's will, John Hauger and Burr Bradley have been dead for at least ten years and that he was well acquainted with Joseph Hauger's handwriting and Joseph's will signature is genuine. Joseph Hauger is now deceased. (Joseph Hauger's death date is August 26, 1865). By the above associations, I believe that John Hauger died before the year 1855. He is possibly the father of George Hauger b. 1788 Pa., Joseph Hauger b. 1790 Pa., Solomon Hauger b. 1791 Ky., Jacob Hauger b. 1801 Ky. And Elizabeth Hauger married 1822 and Catherine Hauger b.1794 Pa. We have Census records for the previous mentioned Hauger's in Washington, Co., In., marriage records, court records and land transfers located in the Washington Co., In. Court House, Salem, In. To prove without a doubt records need to be located in Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania if any are in existence. Note similar names of children in Jacob Hauger b. 1801 and Joseph Hauger b. 1790 |
