unknown author Played Baseball--St. Louis Cardinals and one other professional team was after him at one time to play for them. Back then Grandpa was married and had a rather young family and the teams didn't allow families to travel with the team. They celebrated their 50th (Golden) Anniversary with friends and family. He wasa member of the Kokomo Church of Christ-618 S. Main St. before and after becoming a charter member of the Alto Church of Christ, now Chapelhill Christian Church located in Alto, Ind. The Alto Church of Christ experienced difficulties which ended in it splitting up. One of two elders (Jack Hight) resigned. This led to Dutch Hight's declining health. Before him and son Jack Hight, also a charter member of the Alto Church of Christ, returned to 618, they along with wives Bertha and Beulah traveled to Florida for R.& R. They were on vacation to get rid of the stress. While in Florida Dutch became ill with what was believedto be the Flu but believed by Jack, Beulah and Tim as being a mild heart attack. After his return to his home in Greentown, Howard, Ind. he suffered a heartattack which led to multiple more heart attacks and several strokes which eventually killed him. |
