His company and another from Berks Countywere called into service and reported to Ambroy, NJ. Some speculate he took part in the Battle of Long Island in August 1776, others think its possible he was with Washington's army when they attacked the Hessians in Trenton, NJ. Danieland Catherine had eight children; however, only five daughters survived to adulthood.
