FREEPORT -- Robert D. Moyer, 80, of Freeport died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Stephenson Nursing Center.
He was born April 29, 1923, near Orangeville, the son of George D. Moyer and Anna E. (Bobb) Moyer. On Feb. 7, 1946, Robert and Carolyn Kaiser were married at St. John United Church of Christ in Freeport, of which he was a member.
During World War II, Mr. Moyer served with an Army Bomb Disposal Unit in Central Europe. He was a member of the Amvets and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He worked at Kraft Cheese Co., and then was employed 38 years at W.T. Rawleigh Co.
Mr. Moyer was formerly a member of the Freeport Eagles Club and Monroe Moose Lodge.
Surviving him are his wife, Carolyn Moyer of Freeport; one son, Jeffrey R. Moyer (Ellie) of Monroe, Wis.; two daughters, Connie (Ed) Orde and Marsha (Larry) Boll, both of Freeport; five grandchildren, Kristin (Michael) Farringer, Lisa (Jason) Knox, Jessy Moyer-Simpson, Regan (Julie) Boll and Elizabeth Boll; two great-grandchildren, Adam Orde and Brittany Anne Knox; and three sisters, Helen Moyer of Barneveld, Wis., Beulah Waelti of Sarasota, Fla., and Elaine (Leon) Barron of Freeport.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Clarence Moyer and Donald Moyer. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will be at chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
