Traveled with his uncle J.E.Kruse and his family Name: Conrad Kruse Arrival Date: 18 Mar 1869 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1841 Age: 28 Gender: Male Port of Departure: Hamburg, Germany and Le Havre, France Destination: United States of America Place of Origin: Germany Ship Name: Germanic Port of Arrival: New York Line: 49 Microfilm Serial: M237 Microfilm Roll: 307 List Number: 221 Port Arrival State: New York Port Arrival Country: United States Settled near Foreston, Illinois. He came to Grundy County Iowa in 1883 where he homesteaded. Lived in Foreston, Illinois until 1883 when he moved to Grundy County, Iowa 1865 Ship records show the two young men (Konrad and Jan) sailed on the"Harzburg"from Bremen to New York on May 4, 1865-destination: Illinois. This appears to be Konrad and his brother. It's possible he went back to Germany in 1869 to take care of family business or perhaps to help his 60 year old uncle with his travel. It is also very possible that these are cousins, sons of Dirk. Dirk does not appear to have come to America, perhaps he died and money was sent to fetch his two sons to IL. Lived in Foreston, Illinois until 1883 when he moved to Grundy County,Iowa where he took up farming. He farmed until 1900 when he retired and moved to Grundy Center, Iowa. |
