Ship records show the two young men ‎(Konrad and Jan)‎ sailed on the"Harzburg"from Bremen to New York on May 4, 1865-destination: Illinois. This appears to be Konrad and his brother. It's possible he went back to Germany in 1869 to take care of family business or perhaps to help his 60 year old uncle with his travel. It is also very possible that these are cousins, sons of Dirk. Dirk does not appear to have come to America, perhaps he died and money was sent to fetch his two sons to IL.

Lived in Foreston, Illinois until 1883 when he moved to Grundy County,Iowa where he took up farming. He farmed until 1900 when he retired and moved to Grundy Center, Iowa.
