!RECOLLECTIONS About Martha Ann (Horn) Hoff by her son Arthur Hoff.She was a small woman about 5' tall weighing 90-100 lbs.She was a great believer in the use of steam baths in thetreatment of various bodily ailments. She was not strongon doctors. Arthur remembers that a steam bath would beconstructed by sitting the patient in a tub of hot waterwhich was slightly tilted. The feet were then placed inanother container of hot water and a blanket thrownaround the patient's neck and spread over the tubs. Cause of death - stroke of appoplexy in1910 from which she never fully recovered. She had anumber of light strokes afterward and later becamecompletely paralyzed.
