Died, near Pearl village, 2 Feb 1891, Dr. David Miller of cancer, one ofPearl's oldest citizens. Dr. Miller was born in Claremont ‎(sic)‎ County,OH June 28, 1809 and was married to Rebecca Todd Feb 15, 1831. He came toIL in 1836 and settled in LaSalle County, moved to Greene county in 1837and in the latter part of the same year came to Pike County, Pearltownship and has lived here ever since. He was the father of sevenchildren, three sons and four daughters, two of whom are now dead. Dr.Miller was one of the early settlers and did a great deal towardsdeveloping the country. He was a straight-forward, honest man and athorough Democrat- voted the ticket for 61 years withouth scratching it,with the one exception , and that was on Mr. Greeley. If he was a frien,he was the truest. He was always a great friend of the poor and woulddivide his last cent with them. So one more of the old settlers haspassed away. May he rest in peace.
