1775-1776 at 15 was cook to Lord Cornwallis discharged at Yorktown, Virginia Oct 1847died at age 86 His Parents emigrated from England and were of English birth. At 15, he served as cook to Lord Cornwallis during the Revolutionary War. He did not shoulder a musket against this country. He was discharged at Yorktown, Va. After his discharge, he went to Baltimore, Md. and from there to Wrightsville, Pa. He became a Blacksmith and then moved to Lancaster, Pa. It was supposed that the capital of the United States would be at Wrightsville and for this reason he located there in order to be in the capital city. Was a member of Methodist Episcopal Church and is buried at the old stone church in Briar Creek Township. |
