The two lived in California for 10 years, then moved to Miami County, to a farm. In 1971 they moved into the town of Paola. Elza dug the basement for Seth Edwin Duell's house in 1930. This was done with a team of percherons, a scoop and a fresnel. Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Phyllis Morland of Lancaster, Kansas; a brother, Mark McKee of Woodland Hill, CA; a sister, Bessie West of Riverside, CA; two grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. The Rev. Donald Kirst, pastor of the First Lutheran Church of Paola, officiated at the funeral. The services were under direction of the Runyan Funeral Home of Louisburg.
