Obituary - 4 Jan 1962 Mrs. Majorie W. (Walker) Johnston of 236 Oxford St, Coopersburg, a teacher at the Coopersburg Elementary School the last 20 years, diedyesterday in Allentown Hospital. She had been in ill health for two months and was admitted to the hospital Saturday. A native of Northumberland, she wasthe daughter of the late Harry E. and Grace (Epler) Walker. She was a graduateof Northumberland High School, Bloomsburg State College, and Hood College, Frederick, MD. She taught in the Ellsworth public school system for 11 years andthen went on to teaching positions at Baltimore, MD, and Stafford, VA. She joined the Cooperburg school system in 1942. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. E. W. Cornwell of Fredricksburg, VA; Mrs. L. K. Simons of Sparta, NC, and a brother; J. Edwin Walker of Northumberland, PA. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the R. L. Davis Funeral Home, Northumberland. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Willard L. Gruver Funeral Home, Main & Oxford Sts., Coopersburg. In 1959, Marjorie came to NC to visit her sister Leanora. While there sheand her sister construted numerous stone walls and 3 stone patio's all by themselves.
